Jayroe, Thomas Jasper ...

The pension application is dated Aug 31, 1900. The application states that he enlisted in 40th MS Co F May 1862 and was discharged fall 1862 for disease of the lungs. Enlisted again in 10th MS Co H. Wounded July 28, 1864 at Atlanta, GA, was shot through the arm near the elbow. His commander surrendered at Greensborough, NC. He lost almost entire use of one arm and stated that he had "cancer of the mouth which has taken my chin off."
