Savell, WilliamAs researched and compiled by Generation No. 1 William Savell, born abt. 1750, possibly in South Carolina; he died in Georgia. William married Lucy (Unknown) Savell, possibly in South Carolina. Lucy died in Georgia. Notes on William and Lucy Savell. Note: William and Lucy Savell and their four sons, Aaron, William, Moses and John were on the 1790 census in South Carolina. Sometime between 1790 and 1800, William and his family moved to Franklin County, Georgia, where they were on the tax rolls from 1800 to 1808. Note: Three of William and Lucy's sons, Aaron, Moses and John, crossed Cherokee Territory into Mississippi late in 1808 Aaron in Fair River, Lawrence County, Mississippi; Moses eventually in New Orleans, Orleans, Louisiana; John in Boque Chitto, Lincoln County, Mississippi. Generation No. 2 Aaron Savell (William1), born 1770 in Laurens Co., South Carolina, and died February 09, 1832 in Hinds Co., MS.. He married (Unknown) abt. 1800. She died in Hinds Co., MS.. Aaron was laid to rest in the Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery in Hinds County near Raymond County, Mississippi. Notes on Aaron. Note: Aaron Savell had 160 acres of land and paid tax in Fair River, Lawrence County, Mississippi. Part of Lawrence County was taken to form part of Lincoln County, Mississippi. Aaron lived in Lawrence and Lincoln Counties until around 1826. Note: Aaron fought in the war of 1812, (Rowland 13 Regiment (Nixon's) of Mississippi Militia page 204. Aaron is listed as Saville, Aaron, Private. Note: In 1815, in Carter's Territorial papers of US Mississippi Vol. 6, pp 494ff, Petition to Congress by inhabitants Marion and Lawrence Counties " since we have been in the field three years (war with England and Greeks) asking them time to pay for the public land on which they lived " January 19, 1815 p. 496 has Aaron Savil listed. Note: 1820 census, Lawrence County, Mississippi, listed Aaron with, "2M under 10, 1M 10 16, 1M 16 26, 1F 10 16, 1F over 45" Note: From minutes of the Fair River Baptist Church, April 23, 1824, Aaron was mentioned. In 1826 Aaron's daughter, Lucy, married Lewis Denham in Lawrence County, Mississippi. Note: Aaron sold the land in Fair River in late 1826 or early 1827. Note: By 1827, Aaron and his family were in Hinds County, Mississippi. Aaron paid tax there from 1827 through 1831. Aaron joined the Palestine Baptist Church, Hinds County, Mississippi, in 1828 by Letter from Fair River Baptist Church. Note: On the 1830 census, Aaron had "1M under 5, 1M under 10, 1M 10 15, 1M 15 20, 1M 40 50, 1F 40 50, 1F slave 24 36" (It is believed the 1M under 5 was the child of the slave.) Note: Aaron's marriage in Tennessee, nor his wife's name, or where she was laid to rest, has been verified by family members in Mississippi. Children of Aaron and Unknown are:
Generation No. 3 William Savell (Aaron2, William1), born in 1813 in Union, Neshoba Co., MS., and died November 15, 1861 in Neshoba Co., MS.. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) H. Killen, daughter of Henry Killen and Sara Houston of Union, Neshoba Co., MS.. Elizabeth was born November 13, 1816 and she died on May 25, 1892, in Philadelphia, Neshoba County, MS.. William and Elizabeth were laid to rest in the Killen Cemetery Neshoba Co., MS., T9 R12 Sec 28. Notes on William and Elizabeth. Note: William obtained a land patent for 79.09 acres of land in Neshoba Co., on or before October 01, 1859. Note: The Killen Cemetery is Located section 27 Township 9 North, Range 12 East. Located just of Deemer Road and County Line Road. Approximately 4 1/2 miles north east of Union Mississippi. Children of William and Elizabeth are:
Generation No. 4 Aaron Savell (William3, Aaron2, William1), born October 21, 1849, in Union, Neshoba Co., MS.; m. Mary Susan Burnett, daughter of Joseph (Joe) B. Burnett and Martha Elizabeth Martin in Union, Neshoba Co., MS., on or before 1877. Mary was born March 05, 1851 in Union, Neshoba Co., MS.. Aaron died November 13, 1892 in Union, Neshoba Co., MS.. Mary died December 18, 1909, in Union, Neshoba Co., MS.. Aaron and Mary were laid to rest in the Killen Cemetery. Notes on Aaron and Mary. Note: Aaron's middle name appears in two census, one as "L." another as "H." Aaron's middle name has not been verified. Note: Mary Susan Burnett was a school teacher, nurse and beloved mother. Children of Aaron and Mary are:
